The design was based on the ‘torpedo’ splitter version made by Peddig-Keel which proved both popular and easy to use over the years, but sadly are no longer available. This re-imagined presentation is called a Pencil Splitter. These are the first of their kind. Made in England using an eco-resin, considered more environmentally friendly than other types of printing plastics, the splitters were developed in partnership with professional straw workers using rye straw, wheat straw and barley.Throughout the creative process, their comments and suggestions helped form the splitters to work as beautifully as they do. As with any new tool, once used a few times the action will become second nature to you.
As straw use varies globally, so does this new splitter set that will divide your straw stalks in 3, 4, 6 and 8 ways. The 8 splitter is unique to this set. The splitters are produced in different colored resin for ease of size selection: white, orange, violet and green.
The 4 splitters come boxed in two sizes: small and large tool sizes; great for a wide range of straw sizes. Each with a set of instructions and a link to an instructional video. Including instructions are also unique to splitter set. Shown below for comparison purposes are the two sizes shown together, or a box of each size.

Which size do you need?
SMALL sized splitters are suitable for splitting all types of straws including the finest Turkey Red, or fine Maris Widgeon, rye and other straws offered by The Straw Shop. The splitter diameter is slightly smaller suitable for smaller hands and plant sizes.
The LARGE sized splitters are suitable for all straws down to those with an approximately 1mm diameter. Perfect for larger rye straws and any of The Straw Shop’s stalk offerings. The larger diameter of the splitter body is convenient for those with less ability to grasp smaller tools.
